Fibre

Incorporating more fibre in to your diet is one of the most fundamental ways in which you can improve your gut health. But is it as easy as eating more lentils? How do you incorporate more fibre into your diet, to really gain the health improvements everyone is talking about!

There are many different types of fibre, the main two being; soluble and insoluble which are mainly found in whole foods such as fruits and vegetables. In the Western world it is thought that we are eating as little as 12g of fibre per day. There are many different ways to improve your fibre intake but it is essential to go slowly at first especially if you are currently experiencing issues like bloating, diarrhea or constipation. I can provide an easy to follow plan on how to incorporate more fibre into your diet and all the different types of fibre, there spefic role in gut health and why they are each uniquely beneficial.

Did you know that for every 10grams of fibre you add to your diet you reduce all cause mortality        by 10%. So if you are able to increase your fibre intake to the newly recommended 40g per day you can reduce your risk of dying from ANY CAUSE by a whopping 40%. Imagine if that was sold in a pill! That is just by increasing fibre intake which is pretty easy to do once you know how!
