My Story
After experiencing many years of my own health issues and little help from conventional medicine practices, I trained to become an advanced gut health practitioner. With many failed attempts of recovery, I could not seem to get to the root cause of why I was feeling so ill. I was experiencing multiple and seemingly unexplained symptoms that made no sense and seemed unconnected. In desperation I tried ever increasingly restrictive diets and radical methods to try and improve my symptoms. I have spent years researching what to eat, what not to eat and which supplements to take. I consulted with doctors all over the World, tried protocols for adrenal fatigue, hormone regulation, food sensitivities, hypothyroidism, detoxification programmes, live blood analysis, oxygen treatment, kinesiology, but I never got to the root cause. My deep dive into gut health started after a course of antibiotics for a tooth infection. My health declined again, severe bloating, fatigue, histamine issues, sleep issues, Edema and constipation. It was at this stage that I finally made the connection to my gut, after reading the GAPS diet. I followed the protocol, by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride who believes leaky gut is a major cause of Autism, ADHD and behavioural issues mainly in children but in adults as well. I had found a connection, an explanation to years of unexplained illness, worsening food intolerances and chemical sensitivities, digestive issues, hormone and thyroid issues. I trained to become a gut health specialist, starting with a diploma in Advanced Gut Health. From there I took a deeper dive I trained with the renowned gut health specialist, Microbiologist, Clinical Researcher and Chief Science Officer for the US based Microbiome Labs, Kiran Krishnan and enrolled in his Gut Restoration programme. I completed many other programmes including Depression, Anxiety, Mood disorders and the Microbiota with Jason Halrelex, and when Kiran finally offered a certified Practitioners course using the most up to date evidence based science, including his own research on barrier dysfunction that has been published. I started with friends, family, then neighbours. I now run a clinic and offer a practical, terrain based, systematic approach to healing the gut. Tracing back issues that would have started many years previously and a true look at the root cause of symptoms, how to heal them and how to regain vibrant, resilient prolonged health. I use a holistic approach that focuses on healing the body through the gut. I look at each client individually with the use of a number of detailed intake forms that look at symptoms, diet, possible causes, history, antibiotic use and then tailor protocols to suit each client. I am a firm believer that there is no 'one size fits all' especially when it comes to gut health. I also believe that 'we are what we eat'. If you look at how our diets have changed over the last 50yrs there is little wonder to why we are facing an epidemic of chronic health issues Worldwide. We all have a unique microbiome that has developed and adapted throughout our lifetime and I look at what has shaped that microbiota into its current state of health or dysbiosis. There are many aspects to be addressed and it will take time, healing depends on compliance, the length of time you have been ill and severity of symptoms. Some people can see improvements in the first month, for some it will take longer, so if you are willing to put in the time, the consideration and heal yourself from the gut outwards, my approach is for you.
